August 2009

Off to a good start with 5 eggs today.
Aggie is so bold at the moment, running up to me for treats (she normally stays a little aloof) and letting me pick her up for a cuddle.
Don't quite know what it is about Tat, but she's looking especially magnificent at the moment.
After only three weeks of resumed laying, Clover seems to have stopped again and is having a mini-moult.
Oh dear, how stupid are we?  We wanted to go out at 4pm but stupidly let the hens out thinking we could "control" them and get them back into the pen at will.  Lacey was in the nest (turning broody I fear) and the three big chicks are like lambs to the slaughter - rattle the food bowls in in they come.  Managed to get close enough to Clover to scoop her up but Aggie defeated us, so we had to cancel our trip.  Aggie's in the doghouse!
Definitely one broody Lacey and she's only laid 7 eggs since her last broody spell.
Somehow Salt seems to have cleaned up her bottom.  Hope it stays that way.
Lacey in her potThere's room for a roll about in hereLacey went straight to her pot when I threw her out of the nest.  It was very funny to see Clover up on the edge of the pot and Salt & Pepper looking over the rim as if to say "room for any more in there?".
Aggie has laid today but she seems to be joining Lacey in the broody stakes.

Sorry about lack of chicken news, but I've not been too well.

Scores on the doors:  Salt 25, Tat 20, Pepper 19, Aggie 11, Lacey 5, Clover 2
